Case Study: Lied STEM Academy
Overview
Lied Middle School is a STEM academy located in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their mission as an educational institution is “…to ensure all students are exposed to rigorous instruction, a safe environment, and an academic setting which embraces parent and community involvement.”
Problem
As a progressive institution, school administrators and instructors continually seek ways to maximize the effectiveness of their curriculum.
To this end, they desired a means to enhance engagement and focus, particularly in their ADHD room, but also in other areas of the school. In addition, they sought flexible furniture options to make it quick and easy to reconfigure a classroom for a variety of activities. Finally, teachers hoped for tools to help them stay energetic and focused throughout the school day as well.
Solution
The school installed Stand Up Desk Store crank adjustable standing desk models in select ADHD, math, and English classrooms, as well as in their library.

Results
Teachers report that the standing desks have been highly effective in helping them meet their goals. According to school officials:
- Having students stand during the day has been beneficial in terms of attentiveness and engagement.
